The WWE is leaning into a bit of DC popularity with a new promotional video.
This year’s WrestleMania has been dubbed “WrestleMania Goes Hollywood” as it will be hosted at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. To that end, the wrestling company is releasing videos that feature wrestlers in new takes on famous scenes from movies. One of the first releases features Seth Rollins recreating the stair dance from Joker until his real-life wife, Becky Lynch interrupts him and puts on a Batman voice.
This is fitting as some fans have referred previously to Rollins being the WWE’s version of the Joker.
This isn’t the first time DC properties have been seen to influence the events of the WWE. While never called out by name, the wrestler Alexa Bliss had a lengthy storyline where she fell under the spell of a wrestler named The Fiend. Her appearance changed to one that very closely resembled Harley Quinn while also suggesting she had lost her mind to The Fiend.
And, of course, we have seen things go the other direction as well with Dwayne Johnson recently starring in Black Adam, while John Cena has taken on the mantle of Peacemaker in both The Suicide Squad and the Peacemaker TV series.
WrestleMania Goes Hollywood will take place over two nights on April 1 and April 2, 2023.
