According to a new report, Dead Boy Detectives has found a new home at Netflix.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. Television has sold the Dead Boys Detectives series to Netflix after having developed it for HBO Max. Speaking with unnamed sources at the studio, it seems that the series – based on comics by Neil Gaiman & Matt Wagner – no longer fit the direction the studio was heading following the takeover by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
DC Studios is in the midst of retooling for the new DC Universe, and that included more interconnectedness between films and television. While there will still be room for other stories under an Elseworlds banner, separation by platform will probably be the path moving forward for TV shows.
Currently, Netflix is already home to Sweet Tooth and The Sandman, so Dead Boy Detectives joining the streamer seems like a fairly natural fit at the moment.
