Rocksteady’s upcoming game, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, puts the Suicide Squad in the hero seat as they have to defeat the Justice League to save the world. The game itself won’t be released for another few months, but this new trailer offers the best look yet at what fans can expect. With a heavy focus on its third-person shooter mechanics and action set pieces, the game relies on players working together (or working with bots for single-player) to take down their foes. The battle featured in the trailer shows the players needing to take out enemy monsters and machines by hitting their glowing, purple weak spots.
The trailer gives the clearest picture of the story behind what led to the need to “kill the Justice League”. Brainiac has taken over the city, if not the world, and has DC’s heroes under his control. Under the influence of Wonder Woman’s lasso of truth, The Flash reveals that the only way to stop his plan is to kill all the heroes: “we have to die to save the world”.
In addition to the gameplay trailer, DC has released a behind the scenes look at the game with commentary from the Rocksteady team. In it, the developers give their insight into what went into creating the different characters and their playstyles. They also reveal the weapons and upgrade systems that will be available to players.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League releases on May 26th for Windows, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
