Despite announcing 10 projects already, it seems we haven’t seen even half of what James Gunn and Peter Safran have in store for DCU’s Chapter 1.
As January drew to a close, Gunn and Safran announced 10 projects – five films and five movies – that would be a portion of what will be known as “Chapter 1: Gods & Monsters.” While the pair of executives made it clear that this would not be the entirety of the story, no clues were given to just how many other projects there would be.
Following an exchange on social media this week, we now know that these 10 projects make up less than half of the first story arc for the DC Universe.
Twitter user Kr1s1s9302 asked Gunn, “About how much of the Chapter 1 slate did you tell us about?” Gunn replied, “Less than half.”
With that number in mind, it means there are at least 21 projects in Chapter 1. How this will break up across different mediums remains to be seen. Since the launch of the new DC Studios, it has been made clear that Gunn and Safran will play a role in not just television and film projects, but video games as well.
As a refresher, the projects announced so far include:
The first five movies:
- Superman: Legacy – July 11, 2025
- The Authority
- The Brave and the Bold
- Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow
- Swamp Thing
The Television projects are:
- Creature Commandos
- Waller
- Lanterns
- Paradise Lost
- Booster Gold
The only projects currently in active development are Creature Commandos and Waller.
