Hello and welcome back to Upcoming comics! We have a pretty fun lineup this week between Batman/Superman: World’s Finest and Nightwing. Speaking of World’s Finest, it’s solicit time again and I am really excited to see the World’s Finest: Teen Titans news! I feel like that series could be as delightful as Batman/Superman has been and I’m eager to see it released. What do you guys think about its announcement? And some of the other events coming to DC’s pages in the next few months?
While you think on that, let’s look at the comics coming out this week!
Upcoming Comics
Batman/Superman World’s Finest #14
BRUCE WAYNE…A MURDERER? Bruce Wayne’s billionaire rival Simon Stagg is dead. And Bruce Wayne is suspect number one! With their friend’s freedom and reputation on the line, Superman, Robin, and Metamorpho, the Element Man, join forces to exonerate the Dark Knight’s alter ego the best way they can: by finding Stagg’s real killer before they strike again!

- Colors By: Tamra Bonvillain
Thoughts: I was just joking with the Batman-News team the other day about Bruce’s staggering ability to frequently end up accused of murder, and here he is again under suspicion. It’s kind of hilarious, and for once I’m here for it.

Nightwing #103
Who is the Grinning Man, who’s always grinning no matter what he’s doing, even when he’s murdering people, and what kind of deal did he make with Neron? Nightwing and the Titans better figure that out soon before they lose one of their team members… Then, in the backup, Nightwing continues his lessons mentoring Jon Kent, a.k.a. Superman, and this time it’s about using your detective skills instead of your fists.

- Inks By: Travis Moore, Julio Ferreira, Vasco Georgiev
- Colors By: Adriano Lucas
- Cover By: Bruno Redondo, Adriano Lucas
Thoughts: I will admit that I am behind on this series, though I’m considering hopping in at this Titans arc to see just what voice Tom Taylor gives the group as a whole.

Catwoman #54
You know what they say: two’s company, but three’s a crowd! The Royal Flush Gang joins Selina Kyle behind bars, and while the other inmates are team Selina, the Queen remains loyal to Punchline. It wouldn’t be jail without the ladies clawing each other’s eyes out, especially when Catwoman makes a special appearance just to kick some clown ass. All this chaos and distraction may just be the break-out-of-jail-free card Selina needs. Meanwhile, Tomcat finally deals with his ex-boyfriend who tried to take the Tomasso heir…

DCeased: War of the Undead Gods #8
The epic saga that began over three years ago reaches its final, cataclysmic conclusion! As worlds burn, heroes fall-can hope prevail? DCeased ends here…

Batgirls #17
Nothing says spring like the Aparo Park Spring Jubilee-live music, good food, and besties Cass Cain and Steph Brown unwinding after a long day of Batgirling. But the day turns sour quickly when snipers Gunbunny and Gunhawk appear on the scene…why are they here, and who are they targeting? It’s up to the Batgirls to protect their fellow Hills residents and find the snipers before anyone gets hurt.

- Colors By: Rico Renzi
- Cover By: Jorge Corona, Sarah Stern
Thoughts: I’m happy to see this move into a new story after the longer arc we just had, hopefully it’ll freshen up the narrative a bit to have a pretty straightforward mystery to solve.

Beyond the Bat
Hello and welcome back to Beyond the Bat! Here we look at the other titles being released by DC this week that aren’t super focused on Batman. Both Silent Tales and Superboy: The Man of Tomorrow have their opening issues this week. I have to say I’m really excited for Superboy. I love Conner and it’s high time we got another series for him. Here’s hoping it’s a blast. Meanwhile Silent Tales seems like such a cool idea, I really love storytelling done only through art and this seems like a really unique and interesting chance to explore some brief silent stories.
Ratings
Most Excited: Batman/Superman World’s Finest #14– It’s hard not to be excited about one of my favorite titles out right now, I’m excited to see how this whole who-dun-it plot shakes out as the cast dives into a murder mystery.
Least Excited: Batgirls #17- Batgirls hasn’t wowed me at all, and I’m still feeling a little frustrated after the last arc, even with it’s wrap up.
Wild Card: Nightwing #103- Nightwing and the Titans could go either way, what I am interested in is the backup with him mentoring Jon. That’s a relationship I don’t mind seeing more of.
And that is it for this week’s this week in comics! I hope you all found some titles you’re looking forward to in the mix. Be sure to let us know what you’re pulling or skipping this week down in the comments. Until then, I hope you have a great weekend!
