Before Man of Steel, director Matthew Vaughn pitched his own trilogy of Superman movies that would have included a new Krypton twist.
Vaughn appeared on the Happy Sad Confused podcast and discussed a Superman trilogy that he pitched prior to the release of Man of Steel.
He and Mark Millar worked on the concept of what the trilogy would have entailed and it featured a twist that Krypton would not have blown up until Superman was an adult. While not explicitly said in the interview, the inference was that Jor-El had sent Kal-El to Earth thinking Krypton was about to explode, but as Vaughn said, “he got the timing wrong.”
The trilogy of films would have seen Superman going up against Lex Luthor, General Zod, and Brainiac across the trilogy.
Vaughn’s next film is Argylle starring Henry Cavill, and is set to hit theaters on Feb. 2, 2024.
