Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom coming to IMAX

IMAX is promoting Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom ahead of its theatrical release on Dec. 22.

The IMAX company sent out some info on Monday morning about how Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is taking full advantage of its technology.

As part of the Filmed for IMAX program, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom was shot with IMAX-certified digital cameras and features IMAX exclusive Expanded Aspect Ratio (EAR) throughout the entire film. As designed by the filmmakers, moviegoers will find themselves totally immersed in our 1.90:1 aspect ratio, which provides up to 26% more picture only in IMAX. And in our largest theatres, the movie will be presented exclusively in the full 1:78 aspect ratio, offering even more image area exclusively in IMAX.

In addition to the info, IMAX also shared a new poster.

Having failed to defeat Aquaman the first time, Black Manta, still driven by the need to avenge his father’s death, will stop at nothing to take Aquaman down once and for all. This time Black Manta is more formidable than ever before, wielding the power of the mythic Black Trident, which unleashes an ancient and malevolent force. To defeat him, Aquaman will turn to his imprisoned brother Orm, the former King of Atlantis, to forge an unlikely alliance. Together, they must set aside their differences in order to protect their kingdom and save Aquaman’s family, and the world, from irreversible destruction.

The cast includes Jason Momoa, Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, and Randall Park.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on Dec. 22.
