Nicholas Hoult reportedly playing Lex Luthor in Superman: Legacy

According to a new report, James Gunn has cast Nicholas Hoult int he role of Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman: Legacy.

Deadline is reporting that Hoult is in talks to play the evil genius that is Lex Luthor in the upcoming Superman film.

Hoult is no stranger to comic book films. He previously played Hank McCoy/The Beast in multiple X-Men films, but has also flirted with DC Projects before. Hew as one of the final two choices to play the Caped Crusader in Matt Reeves The Batman, a role that eventually went to Robert Pattinson.

Once finalized, Hoult would be joining previously announced David Corenswet as Superman, and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane. They will all be joined by Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and María Gabriela de Faría as the Engineer.

With filming slated to begin in Jan., and numerous other roles to still be announced, there are sure to be more announcements in the coming weeks.

Superman: Legacy will hit theaters on July 11, 2025.
