Update: From BOF…
After doing some investigating, I don’t believe that there is anything to the rumor that the characters Sarah Essen and Julie Madison are in in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. For the record, my money’s still on Selina Kyle/Catwoman.

Last week Moviehole reported that Nolan was meeting with actresses for the lead female role in The Dark Knight Rises. It was quickly assumed that this part was for Catwoman or Talia al Ghul. BOF claims to have heard differently though. They’ve heard “whispers” that the two possible female roles are for Detective Sarah Essen & Julie Madison. Sarah Essen is known in the comics for having an affair with Jim Gordon and even marries him after he gets a divorce. In the comics, Julie Madison is best known as Batman’s first significant love interest. According to the source, Julie would play the smaller role, with Sarah being a main supporting character.
It should be noted that BOF starts it’s post with “File this under ‘Take with a grain of salt,’ OK?”. I wouldn’t put much into this “rumor” right now, but feel free to discuss the possibility of these two characters joining the cast in the comments.
