Pittsburgh Steelers’ Hines Ward talks ‘The Dark Knight Rises’ cameo

A football game between the “Gotham Rogues” and “Rapid City Monuments” was shot at Heinz Field, home of the Pittsburgh Steelers, this past summer. We finally got our first look at the footage in the trailer for The Dark Knight Rises which was released earlier this week. Many of the Pittsburgh Steelers were extras in the scene, and wide receiver Hines Ward was featured promenantly in trailer #2. USA Today caught up with Ward to talk about his cameo:

“I had a blast doing it,” Ward says in an e-mail to USA TODAY. “It is a big honor for me.” “I hadn’t run back a kickoff in forever,” says Ward of the scene, filmed at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh. “It was a little bizarre. But I scored on the return and any time I score it’s a lot of fun.”

The preview of the eagerly anticipated film instantly went viral. Ward’s review? “It’s off the chain,” he says. “I can’t wait to see the movie with my son.”
