MTV caught up with Liam Neeson and asked if he’d reprise his role as Ra’s Al Ghul. “I would, in a heartbeat, if it came my way, yeah,” Neeson replied. “Very much so.”
Ra’s al Ghul is going to be featured in the upcoming season of Arrow, and MTV was curious if Neeson had been approached for the role. However, if you watch the video above, it’s clear that Neeson didn’t understand the question, and didn’t hear the part about Arrow. All he heard was “have you been asked to return as Ra’s al Ghul?”. Just about every website online is running with the headline “Liam Neeson would love to play Ra’s al Ghul on Arrow”, but that’s simply not true. This is how rumors get started!
One thing’s for sure, Ra’s al Ghul is coming to TV for season 3 of Arrow. Warner Bros. hasn’t announced who’s playing him yet, but you can get a sneak peek at Ra’s in the trailer below.
Neeson went on to explain what advice he’d give to the actor that lands the role:
“They have to believe in their philosophy,” Neeson said. “Ra’s al Ghul absolutely believed what he was doing was ultimately saving civilization, and it was quite a good argument he comes up with. Throughout the ages this fraternity, that brought the plague to wipe out a section of mankind because it needed to be regenerated again. Very dangerous, but you have to believe it.”
