According to his obituary, Stephan Merrill of Winter Haven, Florida passed away by an uppercut from Batman on February 12. Merrill was a huge comic book fan, and he wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.
Merrill had been battling cancer since 2013, and his family didn’t know what to write as the cause of death because one had not been officially determined. “I made a joke,” said Brandon Moxam, a close friend of Merrill. “Say the cause of death was an ‘uppercut from Batman.'”
“He would have been honored to have died by an uppercut from Batman,” said his fiancée, Stephanie Vella.
