Rumor: Joss Whedon is reshooting the ‘Justice League’ ending

On the August 11th episode of the /Film Daily podcast, /Film editor-in-chief Peter Sciretta reported new information he heard about the Justice League reshoots. Apparently, Joss Whedon is reshooting the ending to make it feel more like a complete movie and less like a cliffhanger for Justice League 2. Spoilers may follow if this report turns out to be accurate…

According to /Film, Justice League was originally going to end with a big cliffhanger with Darkseid arriving to Earth, setting him up to be the main villain for the sequel. Now that ending has been completely scrapped. /Film says that Wonder Woman actor Robin Wright shot a new flashback scene explaining who Steppenwolf is. The looming threat of Darkseid is being downplayed with the reshoots.

You can listen to the report at the 5:55 mark in the audio player below.

/Film doesn’t break news often, but earlier this year they correctly reported that The Batman script would be starting over from scratch. If this Justice League news is true, it wouldn’t be the first time Warner Bros. used reshoots to change the ending of one of their DC movies. The ending of Suicide Squad originally involved Jared Leto’s Joker confronting the team of bad guys as they battled Enchantress, we even got a peek at it in the trailers.

What do you make of this rumor? Would you like Justice League to have a more complete ending instead of a cliffhanger with Darkseid for Justice League 2? Let me know in the comments below.
