New DC Comics young readers imprints announced

Comics are for everyone, and there’s a comic out there for everyone.  Young and old, casual and hardcore fans, there’s something out there to be found for each and every person who wants to read about there favorite characters.  With that mindset, DC Comics have revealed plans for not one but two new imprints for young readers: DC Zoom and DC Ink.

The lines will focus on material for middle school-aged and young adult readers, respectively, with titles due to launch this fall.

DC have always had their own branding for kid-focused titles, such as the Johnny DC imprint in the mid-2000s.  There’s been a particular renaissance of late with the popularity of the DC Super Hero Girls in particular, and sure enough they’ll be a part of this new initiative.  In addition to DC Super Hero Girls: Search for Atlantis, a new graphic novel from Batman News favorites Shea Fontana and Yancey Labat, two other titles have been announced: a Harley Quinn graphic novel, written by Mariko Tamaki and illustrated by Steve Pugh, and a Mera graphic novel to be written by Danielle Paige.
