Aquaman is now the fourth highest-grossing superhero movie ever released in China. The James Wan film sits at $189.2M in the Middle Kingdom. It moved ahead of Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War ($180.8M) this weekend.
Warner Bros.’ oceanic adventure has a long way to go to catch Avengers: Age of Ultron ($240.1M) in third place, but it can get there. The other two films ahead of Aquaman in China are Avengers: Infinity War ($359.5M) and Venom ($270.2M).
Aquaman opened in over 40 additional markets this week and raised its worldwide total to $261.3M. This is a terrific result heading into the film’s domestic opening next weekend. He’s already King of the Seven Seas, but Arthur Curry will soon add the box office to his domain.
