Aquaman Passes Suicide Squad for Third All-Time in DCEU Worldwide Box Office

As expectedAquaman earned over $50M in its second weekend at the domestic box office. The film hauled in another $51.6M this weekend, raising its global total to $748.8M. That moves Aquaman ahead of Suicide Squad ($746.8M) for third all-time at the worldwide box office for the DC Films universe.

As Aquaman continues to climb the DCEU global box office charts, it has yet to pass any of the previous films domestically. It’s a little early for that, though, and Aquaman should be able to pass Justice League ($229M) in due time.

Aquaman will need to keep kicking its legs to eclipse the next DCEU film on the domestic list, Man of Steel ($291.1M). It can get there, however, considering that Aquaman only dropped 23.5% from its $67.4M opening weekend (28.5% if we also count preview screenings).

It remains to be seen where Aquaman will finish at the domestic box office. Globally, it’s still on pace to finish atop the DCEU rankings once it passes Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($873.6M). Rankings aside, there’s no question that Aquaman is the big hit Warner Bros. and DC Films needed it to be.
