Birds of Prey and Gotham City Sirens Reportedly Heading for a Film Fight

There are rumors that make you go, “That seems a bit of a stretch,” and then there are rumors that make you say, “There is no way that is happening!” Every so often there is a rumor so outlandish that it makes you think there is no way that is happening, but you desperately want it to.

A new rumor making the rounds is that Warner Bros. has some big plans for the Birds of Prey well past Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn). We’re not sure where the rumor began, but it seems to have been perfectly encapsulated in a tweet from Thomas Polito of Geeks WorldWide.

If you aren’t fluent in emojispeak (don’t worry, neither are we), the rumor is that we’re heading for a Birds of Prey v Gotham City Sirens movie. Some versions of the rumor say the order of the films will go Birds of Prey, followed by Gotham City Sirens, and then a crossover between the two.

Where does Harley go in a Birds of Prey v Gotham City Sirens scenario?

Of course, comics fans know Harley Quinn far more as a member of the Gotham City Sirens, which makes us wonder, should this rumor prove to be true, would Harley switch teams at some point? If you think back to the comics, Harley was pretty much ’emancipated’ from the Joker during the Gotham City Sirens run. If the upcoming Birds of Prey is about her breaking free of his control, it wouldn’t be crazy to see her switch sides.

Again we stress this is all rumor for now. Nothing official has been announced, and we are definitely taking it all with a grain of salt. Add in that Margot Robbie has finally set up her Barbie film, and you have to wonder how all of this would fit into her schedule.

We’ll be watching this one closely.

Birds of Prey is due to hit theaters on Feb. 7, 2020.
