Andy Muschietti confirms the Flash will go time traveling

As development continues on the long-gestating The Flash movie, it seems that we finally have confirmation that time travel will play a factor.

While The Flash had been referred to as “Flashpoint” early in its development, there have been so many crew changes that it wasn’t clear that was still the plan.

Andy Muschietti recently spoke with Orden 67 radio show, and said of the film, “It is a story of time travel: Flash travels back to try to save his mother. It is a spectacular action movie but it has a big heart.”

While the famous Flashpoint storyline deals with Barry traveling back in time to save his mother, it had a massive impact on the DC universe. You had things such as meeting Thomas Wayne who had become Batman following the death of Bruce in Crime Alley. The Amazons and Atlanteans at war, and numbers other small changes.

It seems some aspects of this will make it to the film with Michael Keaton rumored to appear in the film as Bruce Wayne, but the war has been flatly denied as happening.

With so little of the Flash being established in the DCEU to date, this is going to leave a lot of ground to cover in the film. From establishing the story of his mother’s death, introducing Iris, and showing how this version of the Butterfly Effect spreads out from such a seemingly small event.

With DC Fandome mere weeks aways, hopefully we will learn some more about the plans.
