First Batgirl set photos surface with a big surprise

The first Batgirl set photos have arrived, and there’s a potentially huge spoiler floating around in them.

If you don’t want to be spoiled for the HBO Max Batgirl movie, we suggest you don’t read any further.

First up, Leslie Grace has been spotted on the set in a “GCPD” t-shirt, a seemingly fitting wardrobe choice for a member of the police force.

While Grace being on the set is no big surprise, it’s the arrival of a fake wall with a mural on it that has us scratching our heads. A mural was moved into position of what looks to be Michael Keaton’s Batman, and by his side is Robin. Robin’s face is scratched out significantly, so we can’t make out who he may be, but this is the first confirmation we’ve had of a Robin existing in this version of the universe.

While we know a Robin existed with Ben Affleck’s Batman, the universes will be rearranged by The Flash movie. So this is the first indication that Keaton’s Batman ever had a Robin. There were plans for Marlon Wayans to play Robin to Keaton’s Batman in Batman Returns, to the point that the plans were scrapped so late that he still received a paycheck for the film.

Rumors have been circulating that a Robin will appear in the movie, but this is the closest thing we’ve seen so far to evidence.

Batgirl is filming around Glasgow, Scotland for two weeks, and the film is scheduled to hit HBO Max sometime in 2022.
