Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom reportedly holding release date

It looks as though we will indeed be seeing Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom by the end of the year.

A report in July indicated that Warner Bros Discovery is exploring some options of what to do with its remaining films for the years. As the Writer’s Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes continue, studios are already turning an eye toward the end of the year and beyond. Should the strike last until the end of 2023, as some analysts are predicting, this would mean actors would be able to promote their movies. It would mean a large gap in 2024 of new films hitting theaters.

Warner Bros. Discovery was said to be analyzing Dune 2, The Color Purple, and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom for potential delays into the new year. The trickiest one would be moving Dune 2 as it would also require Legendary Pictures to agree to the decision.

Now, a new profile on Blue Beetle director Ángel Manuel Soto by Variety states that insiders saying that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hold on to its Dec. 20 release date.

With the AMPTP and the WGA scheduled to resume at least some form of communication on Friday, the release schedule should stat mostly intact. But if the strikes go on much longer, we won’t be surprised to see some further movement.
