James Gunn gives guidance on DC Universe casting rumors

James Gunn has given a brief guide on how to determine if a casting rumor is true or not: Does the project have a script?

One thing Gunn has long done is confirm or deny casting rumors as he can on various social media platforms. But there seems to be growing interest in upcoming DC Universe projects that don’t even have a script yet, and that is where his new guidance comes about.

Gunn said on Threads of the many questions he gets about various casting rumors, “I get asked about rumors of various actors being cast in various roles every day. Just a blanket rule to keep in mind while assessing whether these rumors have any truth to them (99% of the time they’re false) – we are never going to cast roles without scripts.”

As of right now, the only projects with confirmed scripts in the DCU are the animated Creature Commandos series, and the Superman: Legacy film. Gunn has confirmed he is working on the scripts for Peacemaker season 2, but with his focus currently on Superman: Legacy, it seems unlikely that will have any new casting at the moment.

While we’re sure that a list is being assembled of potential actors to play Batman in Brave and the Bold, the announcement of that part is likely a good distance out from now.

There are many more characters to be announced, and for now we’ll just have to wait to find out who will be playing those roles.
