It seems that Warner Bros. may be developing another spinoff film from the mainline. After the surprise announcement that Aquaman would get a spinoff for The Trench, now it seems Wonder Woman may be getting a similar treatment.
According to a report from @mpmorales out of CCXP, an Amazons of Themyscira film is in the works at Warner Bros. The only other detail known at this time is that Patty Jenkins – director of the Wonder Woman movies – would serve as an executive producer on the project.
This film could go any number of directions, but it seems like it could be a good way to introduce Donna Troy/Wonder Girl to the cinematic universe if the studio chose to. Or it could just be a story of any number of Amazons from at any point in their history. It’s a pretty wide-open canvas for storytelling.
There’s no indication of when this film would go into production, but we’ll be keeping an eye out for more information.
