Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom release date moves up

Your wait for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom just got a tiny bit shorter thanks to some changes in the Warner Bros. schedule.

Warner Bros. has announced that Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will be moving up from Dec. 25, 2023, to Dec. 20, 2023. While not a gigantic move, it’s at least a move forward.

The last change of release date for this film happened in Aug. 2022 when it moved from March 17, 2023 to Dec. 25, 2023. At the time, director James Wan said, “I’m a bit superstitious and I love that it’s a December release like the first one!”

At least he was able to keep the same month.

One of the biggest questions about this film still lingers. Ben Affleck shot scenes for the film as it had moved ahead of The Flash at one point, meaning that the scenes shot with Michael Keaton would have confused the audience. With the film still in this later release window, does that mean the Keaton scenes will be restored? Or does it mean the rumors of Keaton becoming the main Batman of the DCU are now out the window? And there are some rumors that Batman has been removed from the film entirely.

We’ll just have to wait and see how this pans out.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom will hit theaters on Dec. 20, 2023.
