Hans Zimmer comes out of superhero retirement to score ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’

“I have officially retired from the superhero business,” legendary composer Hans Zimmer said in a 2016 interview shortly after the release of Batman v Superman. Since then, Zimmer has flirted with the idea of coming out of retirement, saying that it’d take a “great idea” to get him back.

Apparently that great idea was X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Collider has heard whispers that Zimmer would score that movie, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix star Evan Peters seemed to confirm it on Josh Horowitz’s podcast Happy Sad Confused.

“I think the film is gonna be incredible,” Peters said on the topic of X-Men: Dark Phoenix. “Hans Zimmer’s scoring it—I don’t know if I was supposed to say that or not.”

If Zimmer is truly out of superhero retirement, hopefully we can get him back into the world of DC as well. His work (along with Junkie XL’s) was greatly missed by many fans in Justice League.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix hits theaters on November 2nd.
