Hourman film in development at Warner Bros

Another member of the Justice Society of America may be making their way to theaters as an Hourman movie is reportedly in development.

According to a report from Deadline, Warner Bros. and D.C. Films are working Chernin Group on an Hourman film. The screenwriting duo of Gavin Games and Neil Widener will develop the script for this mainstay member of the Justice Society.

There have been three versions of the Hourman character kicking off with Rex Tyler. He used a compound called “Miraclo,” which granted him superpowers such as strength and endurance for one hour at a time. He was followed into the superhero business by his son Rick Tyler, and a third version in the 853rd century which was an android named Matthew Tyler.

The CW attempted to develop an Hourman series back in 2013, but eventually abandoned the project. The character then went on to appear in Legends of Tomorrow, before both Rex and Rick Tyler became part of the Stargirl series.

Hourman just marks the latest member of the Justice Society beginning to make their way to the big screen. In the upcoming Black Adam movie, Dwayne Johnson’s titular character will be facing off with Atom Smasher, Cyclone, Doctor Fate, and Hawkman, all of which have appeared in various incarnations of the team.

No word yet on a potential release date, director, or cast for the Hourman movie.
