It seems a new hero has entered the arena for Black Adam as Noah Centineo has joined the cast as Atom Smasher.

At long last, and following numerous rumors, we know at least one other hero that will be there to take on Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam. Most rumors had been pointing to Hawkman being in the film – and he could still very well be – but at least we know Atom Smasher will be there.

Centineo was one of the breakout stars of Netflix’s To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, and has also been attached to play He-Man in a Masters of the Universe movie. Though that movie is a bit in limbo at the moment.

Black Adam was due to begin filming in July following 10 years of false starts, however, the coronavirus pandemic delayed it once again. As soon as production on Netflix’s Red Notice can resume, Johnson has to go finish filming that, and then he will move on to starting production on Black Adam.

As to the character of Atom Smasher, he is a metahuman with the powers of super strength and control over his molecular structure, which allow him to alter the size and density of his body. He was a member of the Justice Society of America and became friends with Black Adam after the latter reformed and became a member of the group. Our guess would be that they won’t be friends in the film.

Black Adam is currently scheduled to hit theaters on Dec. 22, 2021, but we fully expect that to be pushed back at some point due to the uncertainty of filming.
